Members,
As you know, we are in overdrive mode over here making adjustment and improvements and fixing problems. In this newsletter you will learn what we've done and what we're currently working on.
----------------------------------------------
1. New Blog Approval System
----------------------------------------------
This first one is about a system we use internally to review blogs that are added to our system. We strive to keep the best quality blogs and reject the spam, and our new Blog Approval system is enabling us to do that like never before.
So...how does this impact you?
a) approvals are being done quicker than before as we can have multiple people in the system at the same time - something we couldn't do before.
b) the system is designed to maintain accuracy and impartiality between reviews.
c) we have re-written the submission guidelines to make them as crystal clear as we can. You can see the guidelines at http://www.blogexplosion.com/doc/site_guidelines.php
d) sometime in the near future we will start randomly reviewing blogs that have been in the system for a while...this will take a back-seat to new blog submissions and will be done in an effort to keep only the best blogs on BlogExplosion.
Many of you will ask why re-reviewing old blogs is necessary. In short, some blogs adjust themselves to our guidelines just so they will be approved, and then turn on evil things like popups. Some blogs change over time and the Audio, Profanity, and Adult Content flags need to be adjusted. The point is not to go on a witch-hunt and look for every blog that's "breaking rules"...it's simply to keep the standard of BlogExplosion even farther above the rest.
Note: there are a lot of blogs in the system waiting to be approved. Please don't send us a support ticket about it - we know. But, the good news is, now that we have the new system, the approvals are going fast and will be caught up soon and they will stay caught up!
----------------------------------------------
2. Member Registration Disabled
----------------------------------------------
Thanks to some of our newer members, we have discovered that members who have registered at BlogExplosion recently are having trouble with the website. For some reason we haven't yet identified, the website runs at a snail's pace for new members, but fast for all other members. As I said, we don't yet know why, but this is my top priority to figure out.
Because of this, I have disabled new member registration for the time being so no one has to experience this unnecessarily.
If you are affected by this problem, there is no need to submit a support ticket. And, unfortunately, you will find it difficult to do anything on the website at this time. My advice is to hang tight and wait it out. I will sent another newsletter when this is resolved.
----------------------------------------------
3. PayPal Payment Problem - Resolved!
----------------------------------------------
As I mentioned in the last newsletter, there were problems with the PayPal payments where purchased credits and banner impressions were not getting posted to accounts automatically. This has been resolved and all past payments have been manually entered. So, if you've been waiting to buy credits, now is the time. Use this link: http://www.blogexplosion.com/members/buy.php
----------------------------------------------
4. Forum Login - Fixed!
----------------------------------------------
Some members were experiencing problems getting logged into the forums. This has been resolved and tested, so jump on in. If you're new to BlogExplosion, saying 'hi' in the forums is a great way to meet other bloggers!
(In order to access the forums, you have to login to your BlogExplosion account. So, if you're having trouble - make sure you go to http://www.blogexplosion.com, login, then try the forums again)
----------------------------------------------
5. Other Notes
----------------------------------------------
Here's the list of things we're still working on. If you are effected by one of these, please don't submit a support ticket - we already know!
a) LiveBlogStats - many users are unable to login
b) Rent My Blog - this is still turned off until we fix the problem with the campaigns mentioned in the last newsletter
c) BlogTycoon - today we received a couple of support tickets saying that members can't access it. Give it a try if you want to play the game, but if you get an error then we will find out why.
d) Our resident Music Director JD over at BE Radio has got some changes planned. He'll be starting a blog and adding lots of new music over the next week. More on that later I'm sure.
e) New Support Ticket system - see last newsletter for the details.
----------------------------------------------
BlogExplosion is still the best way to get your blog read and to find new blogs. So, if you haven't been surfing for a while, it's time to get started again!
